WFR Remote Extension - FAQ
Q: I am not an LWM alum. Am I eligible to take this course?
A: Anyone who is eligible to take LWM's in-person or hybrid WFR Recert course is eligible to take the WFR Remote Extension course to earn a one year WFR certification with LWM. A current Wilderness First Responder certificate or one that is within the previous certifying organization's grace period.
You will need to upload proof of current certification or a certification within the previous provider's grace period upon beginning the course. A WFR certificate will not be issued to individuals without proof of current certification or who have a certification which has expired.
If you have questions about your current certification, please contact LWM.

Q: Why does the extension course only issue a one year certification?
A: Without a lot of practice (and we hope you are not needing your WFR skills often!) skills get rusty. The one year extension is designed to be a bridge until in-person courses can be offered more frequently and consistently; it is not intended to replace the benefits of in-class practice and demonstration.
Q: I am an LWM alum and I have lost my certification card. How can I prove my certification?
A: Email the LWM office and we'll get you a new copy of your card.
Q: How is the course structured?
A: The WFR extension contains whiteboard lectures, readings, guided home practice scenarios and skills practice, first person scenario experiences, patient assessment demonstration, and a final knowledge assessment.
